Ultra HD Binocular Series

What is the difference between the Ultra HD binoculars that have ED glass and those that are just HD without ED Glass?

Both the ED Glass binoculars and the Non-ED HD Binoculars, are specially designed for bird watchers to enhance the bird watching experience.

We've designed each with the following attributes:

  • Extra Wide Field of View - Greater field of view to capture a bird flying through the air quickly.
  • Close Focus - So you can clearly see a bird even as close as 2 meters.
  • Phase Correction - For greater clarity and higher resolution.
  • Waterproof and Fog proof - to be used in any weather and any time.
  • DuraTech Housing - To be more durable against bumps and falls.
  • Lifetime Guarantee - So you never have to purchase another pair of binoculars for your life long hobby.

Now though they have similar designs, the ED binoculars use ED Glass which eliminates chromatic aberration (color fringing) which makes the clarity of the view even more robust.

Extra low dispersion glass (ED Glass) prevents or lessens chromatic aberration because it gives the designer of a multi-element objective lens more options to concentrate and direct the wavelengths of light more effectively, thus they can control and minimize aberrations and in particular, chromatic aberration. Generally speaking, the better the aberrations are controlled the cleaner and brighter the image will appear.

Consequently most higher end optics now come equipped with extra low dispersion glass lenses. Camera’s with the glass tend to take pictures that are clearer and sharper with little or no color fringing and binoculars and telescopes transmit clearer and sharper images to your eyes.

High Powered Monocular Series

What is the difference between Explorer and Titan 12X50 High Powered Monocular Series?

The Wingspan Optics Titan is an upgraded version of the Wingspan Optics Explorer.

We designed the Wingspan Optics Titan with a better optical structure than the Wingspan Optics Explorer for easier use. We have also added additional accessories to the Wingspan Optics Titan, like built in lens covers and loop for a strap.

What is the difference between the Wingspan Adventure 10X50 High Powered Monocular and the Wingspan Nature?

The Wingspan Adventure is an upgraded version of the Wingspan Nature.

We designed the Wingspan Adventure with a 'take anywhere' armor exterior, engineered to handle any weather conditions you find yourself in. It also has new and improved features like:

  1. NEW ATTACHMENT RING for your neck strap, so your monocular is always within your reach, every second you need it.
  2. ATTACHED LENS PROTECTION COVERS, so you will never lose your lens covers again.

What is the difference between the Explorer line and the Nature line of Monoculars?

The Wingspan Explorer and the Wingspan Nature are both designed with similar quality standards.

The differences are found in the magnification power and the Field of View (FOV).

For example, the first number you see: I.e.: 10X50 or 12X50 - Refers to the magnification. So, you can see 10X closer with a 10X50 monocular or 12X closer with a 12X50 monocular.

Now the difference in magnification also affects the field of view. For example, a lower magnification (10X50) will mean that you will be able to see a wider picture.

Below are the Field of View of both of our Wingspan monocular:

  • Wingspan Optics Explorer 10X50 FOV - 304ft/1000yds
  • Wingspan Optics Nature 12X50 FOV - 246ft/1000yds

Therefore, the Wingspan Nature is ideal for wider views for things such as bird watching. And the Wingspan is best if you are more interested in seeing smaller objects but at farther distances.
